Shaw TV Today- Go Island

Good morning friends,
Please take the time to watch Go Island - Shaw TV channel 4. until 6pm today.

The need for open and truthful dialogue is now. That BC Housing can fund four new Winter Shelters in Vancouver operating 24/7, yet we as a community cannot continue a Winter Shelter in Nanaimo operating from seven pm until seven am is shameful.
That there is adequate funding is already known, so once again it boils down to ideology and values. Interesting that the Unitarian Fellowship of Nanaimo made it clear in their recent proposal to the Federal Government, that they were going beyond being an Extreme Weather Shelter to a Winter Shelter, and that also of importance was that over fifty percent of those accessing the shelter were Aboriginal.

The need for the City, the Working Group on Homelessness, and the Unitarian Fellowship of Nanaimo to be open, honest, and transparent is now.

Thankfully Mother Nature is providing us with the weather to fall under the arbitrary criteria an the doors are open.

Thanks to Kelly Robinson, Go Island Shaw TV for contacting me and bringing this issue to a larger audience.

Where is the harm reduction and housing first strategy in an Extreme Weather Shelter?

We as a community should leave no one out in the cold.

Be well my friends
Wallace
